Ghanaians make wild allegations without evidence – Joe Wise

Bekwai MP, Hon. Joseph Osei Owusu, has strongly dismissed allegations that members of the Appointments Committee accept bribes to approve ministerial nominees.

Speaking on *Asetena PA* with Akoto Mansa, Osei Owusu addressed the accusations head-on, emphasizing the need for concrete evidence before making such claims.

“There is absolutely no truth to the suggestion that members of the Appointments Committee take bribes,” he stated firmly. “Ghanaians often make baseless accusations without any proof, and this is just another example.”

Reflecting on his time in Parliament, he highlighted his contributions to his constituency, particularly how he leveraged the government’s Common Fund to drive development.

“As a representative, my priority has always been the well-being of my people. Through the Common Fund, I’ve initiated several projects that have brought meaningful change to my community,” he shared.

Osei Owusu also opened up about a pivotal moment in his political journey, revealing that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership had approached him to be the running mate for then-Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during the party’s flagbearer selection.

While honored by the offer, he ultimately declined due to health concerns.

“I was set to become the running mate, but my health at the time didn’t permit it. Even President Nana Akufo-Addo personally called me to understand why I had to turn it down,” he revealed.
