Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation, Sam Nartey George, has announced that Ghana is close to finalizing a landmark $1 billion investment deal aimed at transforming the country’s IT infrastructure and creating thousands of jobs.
Speaking with Bernard Avle on The Point of View on Channel One TV, the Minister said the agreement with an international partner is expected to be officially signed in the coming weeks.
“In the next few weeks, you will be hearing of us signing a landmark agreement with a country that is going to be investing close to a billion dollars in Ghana’s IT infrastructure,” George stated. “This will drive collaboration and create the jobs we need.”
He also emphasized the government’s focus on equipping the youth with digital skills, citing programs like the One Million Coders initiative, which is designed to prepare young Ghanaians for careers in the fast-evolving tech space, including artificial intelligence.
The investment is part of Ghana’s broader strategy to establish itself as a leading hub for digital innovation and talent development in Africa.
