Ghana is not safe – NPP’s Buabeng Asamoah on Ofosu Ampofo’s alleged leaked tape

NPP Communications Director, Yaw Buabeng Asamoah says Ghana is currently in a state of insecurity following some disclosures allegedly made by the National Chairman of opposition National Democratic Congress, Ofosu Ampofo.

Yaw Buabeng Asamoah asserted that until the security services are able to get to the bottom of the matter, the state of the country is ‘unstable’ and ‘not safe’.

His worry stems from the fact that the alleged comments captured on a leaked tape bothered on how some persons were scheming to disrupt the peace enjoyed in the country to make the governing party look bad and lose favour in the eyes of the electorate.

At a press briefing addressed by the NPP Communication Director at the party’s headoffice in Accra Wednesday, Yaw Buabeng Asamoah emphasized, “I dare say and arguably so, that until we get to the bottom of this matter this nation is not stable, until we get to the bottom of this matter this nation is not safe. Until we get to the end of this matter Ofosu Ampofo and his ilk including greedy Mahama don’t intend to allow peace to reign in our country so that the rule of law will bring prosperity to us as we so desire.”

In the leaked tape involving the National Chairman of the NDC, he allegedly admitted to the gathering of supposed party communicators that the NDC had a hand in the events as they transpired on January 31, 2019 at Ayawaso during the by-election.

This it is alleged in the tape is part of a grand scheme to frustrate the work of some people to make the government lose its good will ahead of 2020.

However, in the press conference of the governing NPP, Yaw Buabeng Asamoah expressed disgust at te conduct of the opposition party and asserted, “they have found themselves out, they have exposed themselves to the nation. Ayawaso West Wuogon was built on nothing. The whole brouhaha on Ayawaso West Wuogon was built on nothing and today the deliberate orchestrated lies and crafted events have crumbled into nothing.”

To this end, the NPP is calling for the resignation of the National Chairman of the NDC, ofosu Ampofo.

The Adentan MP and NPP Communications Director who addressed the press iterated “I believe the Chairman should resign.”

In a related development, The Ghana Police Service has extended a hand of invitation to the National Chairman of the NDC over the comments he is alleged to have made on the leaked tape.

He is expected to meet with the Criminal Investigation Department of the Service on Thursday February 28, 2019 to assist with investigations.

The party has denied that Ofosu Ampofo ever authored those words and described the tape as doctored and the content a fabrication by people they suspect to be affiliated t the governing NPP.
