Ghana Is Hard Yet Police Officers Are Seizing Our Bikes Without Reason—nima Okada Riders Cry Out.

Some riders and motorbike owners within Nima and its enclave have alleged in an engagement with the media that the MTTU unit of the Nima police station often seizes their bikes without stating their wrongdoings to them.

According to them, the police do not inquire about the use of the motorbike. As long as you ride one, it will be seized.

The Riders and Owners of Motorcycles has warned various law enforcement agencies in the country to desist from seizing their motorcycles, even as it said such an act was not a solution in an economically disadvantaged society like Ghana under the leadership of Nana Addo and his NPP-led government.

I am a family man of six, but my motorcycle as a source of income was seized for about 4 days now without any explanation. One of the riders cried to the media, adding that the action of the police is slowly killing him and his family.

Seidu, while speaking to the media, stated that if the action on the lawless seizure of their motorbike is not reviewed, it may impose more serious unemployment implosion across the constituency and the nation at large, as well as increase insecurity and the loss of revenue.

Seidu said, “We are saying that the government should, as a matter of fact, ensure that more jobs are created through already established Okada unions instead of rendering us jobless.”

“And there is so much to learn here, and it’s a fact that many families have been lifted out of poverty through the commercial motorcycle transportation system.” We should also not shy away from the fact that the system has also contributed to fighting insecurity by engaging idle minds and hands.

He noted that the commercial motorcycle transportation system, as a major small-scale business opportunity that cuts across both educated and non-educated alike, remains a viable opportunity for beginners from poor backgrounds, so it would be unreasonable for any serious government to kick against its operations.
