The Ghana Minigolf Federation (GMF) has been given the greenlight to host the 2018 edition of the Africa Minigolf Championship in Accra.

This would be the first time such a big event would be hosted in the capital by the Federation after they were accepted as one of the over 40 Sports Federations by the National Sports Authority a little over a year.

The team is also expected to leave Ghana on Thursday, September 7 to pitch camp in Frankfurt, Germany for training ahead of the tournament.

The GMF President said Ghana would be represented by 20 golfers who were selected based on their performance at various competitions and events organized by the Federation, including the maiden GMF league.

He mentioned that Ghana would take part in two tournaments; the World Adventure Golf Masters (WAGM) to be played on a Minigolf Open System course and the Minigolf World Championship also be played on a Feitgolf.

He also noted that Ghana was the first and only African country that would be participating in the two competitions.

Team Ghana would be represented by; Solomon Addai, Bright Frimpong, Ibrahim Osunaba, Francis Xavior, Morris Ofei, Richard Amoah, Prince Odame, Adoboe Rejoice and Maruf Ahmed.

The rest are; Enoch Nyarko, Emmanuel Osei, Philip Selasi, Kweku Asare, Rocky Addo, Peter Obeng, Faddi Fattal, Hala Fattal, Raphael Kyei and Akwesi Antwi.

Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports Pius Enam Hadzide commended the Federation and the players for their dedication and commitment to represent Ghana at the World stage.

He promised the team that they would be accorded all the courtesies it deserves as a national team and praised GMF boss, Fattal for his contribution to the development of sports in the country.”
