The Greater Accra Deputy Regional Youth Organizer of the opposition NDC, Mr. Amorse Blessing Amos has taken to his Facebook page to vent his venom on the former appointees of erstwhile Mahama administration saying it is hard to believe that they “dished out scholarships to NPP big men and women who, by all imagination, were never in need to the neglect of ordinary and struggling NDC footsoldiers.”, yet turn around to blame the youth Organizers of the NDC for not branding the NDC to make it attractive to the youth.
His post as sighted by Awake News is coming in the the heels of revelations contained in the recent Auditor General’s Report that the former NDC administration has given scholarships some then opposition NPP MPs including the current Education Minister Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempreh, Minister of State and MP for Dome Kwabenya, Adjoa Sarfo and NaCCA Boss, Prince Hamidu Armah from the GETFund.
However, the mandate of the GETFund is to grant scholarships to brilliant but needy Ghanaians.
The Dome MP and procurement minister Adwoa Safo applied and obtained $12,800 in allowances with $17,004 in tuition fees to study at the Harvard Kennedy school.
The Executive Secretary of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), Prince Hamidu Armah also received £38,400 for living expense in addition to £33,000 for tuition fees, While Education minister Mathew Opoku Prempeh, who listed at number 38, is receiving $12,800 for living expenses and $11,200 as tuition fees at security course at Harvard University.
This the seemingly angry deputy youth organizer said:
“How do you expect the NDC to be attractive to the youth when you wickedly deny your own party youth what was due them when you occupied that privileged position? You got that position on their sweat but turned round to dine with your friends in the the opposition party. If you have ever had to endure the pain and shame of being denied entry to exams hall because of fees, and you read how our own people gave out scholarships to undeserving people, you will understand the pain and anger of our footsoldiers.”
“But to my NDC folks, all hope is not lost. Thankfully, some of us have taken stock of what happened in the past. Some of us were also victims of the wickedness of our own people. When power is eventually won, trust me, the story will not be the same. It is good some of these revelations are coming out. We are getting to know those who think about the future of our party and those who think about the future of their friends.” -Amos assures

As a deputy Regional Youth Organizer, one of the harsh criticisms I have mostly heard is that “youth Organizers are not branding the NDC to make it attractive to the youth… we’re losing the youth to our opponents etc”. This statement, predictably, has been on the lips of some party bigwigs, mostly former appointees. I have for very good reasons declined to respond to this statement. I have treated this statement as a challenge thrown at us. I am not oblivious of the fact that I was chosen ahead of my colleague aspirants because the delegates believed I was the right person to change the narrative.
I was not elected to quibble. But sometimes it is disheartening to read things like the Auditor General’s latest report on GetFUND relative to the scholarship Secretariat. That, same persons who dished out scholarships to NPP big men and women who, by all imagination, were never in need to the neglect of ordinary and struggling NDC footsoldiers who desperately needed these scholarships but were denied, will turn round and tell youth Organizers that they are not making the party attractive to the youth, amazes the devil himself.

Let’s put our shoulders to the wheel and hopefully, when we return to power, WE SHALL SEE THOSE WHO WILL FORWARD THEIR CVS FOR APPOINTMENT!
