George Weah not declared President-elect of Liberia

Former international footballer, George Weah has not been declared winner the October 10, 2017 Liberia presidential elections as being speculated.

The National Elections Commission in a press statement has said [ads1]that, it will be addressing the press in the shortest possible time as it urges organization, media and political parties to desist from pronouncing any result.

However, is and the former Vice President under President Johnson are said to be in the lead of the poll’s results that have been counted so far.

NEC has not Declared Winners; Provisional Results Begins Today

MONROVIA…..The National Elections Commission (NEC) says it has not announced any winners from the Tuesday October 10 elections. However, the commission will begin the announcement of provisional results today at its MEDIA CENTER In Monrovia at 5p

NEC reiterates that it has not announced any results nor has it declared any winners from the Tuesday elections.
NEC also warns against individuals declaring verdict on the elections, “only the commission has the legal right to announce the results”.

Section 2.9 (g) of the new elections law of 1986, under power and duties, states: ……conduct all elections for elective public offices including the chieftaincy election and all referenda and declare the winner results thereof.
