On the occasion of the AU Day, GALs World wishes all Africans and people of African descent a Happy African Union Day. To all the indigenous Africans as well as those in the diaspora, we pray that the cords of love are strengthened.
Africans have come a long way in fostering peace, security and harmony among one another. The cross-culture has been overwhelmingly great. The onset of smooth transitions have been so [ads1]remarkable.
That notwithstanding, we still have a long way to go. These include the rather toddling rate of trade among African countries and the sometimes cumbersome cross-border processes. The need to do away with ethnic tension, hate speech, polarized politics as well as vandalism cannot be overemphasized .
Xenophobic attacks against fellow Africans, such as happened in South Africa in 2015 must never happen again. We must never relive the horrific genocidal moments as seen in Rwanda in 1994. The massacre of fellow West Africans in The Gambia in 2005 for fear of being mercenaries must never repeat itself within the continent . Modern slave trade as seen in Libya early this year is nothing for us to write home about.
Fellow Africans, on such a day as this,we at GALs World wish to encourage one another to “let justice guide our actions towards the common good”, as said by the Gambians and in the words of the Namibians,”hold high the banner of liberty”.
God bless Africa
