The Greater Accra Deputy Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Amos Blessing Amorse has raised a red flag on the appointment of the suspended DCE of Denkyira-Obuasi, Mr. Daniel Appianin as the Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Maritime Authority.
According to him in a statement posted on his Facebook page and sighted by Awake News, the government’s supposed attempt of fighting the illegal mining (Galamsey) and the process, Major Mahama was murdered at Denkyira Obuase.
He, however, said, “His gruesome murder was justified by the then DCE, Mr. Daniel Appianin for the area on radio.” and “Sensing that the DCE’s statement exposed the NPP’s agenda, he was suspended and a supposed investigation launched into his conduct. Till date, nothing has been heard about the suspension and investigation.”
“Rather, the DCE who justified Major Mahama’s murder was secretly dispatched to Ghana Maritime Authority as deputy CEO.” – he added
For Mr. Amorse, the gruesome murder of Major Mahama was just to pave way for the ruling NPP to profit from the galamsey activity as it turns out that the government only prevented to be fighting it when in actual fact they only provide security with their party officials to engage in the illegal act.

I’m sorry if this piece reminds the family of Major Maxwell Mahama and the Military Service of the pain they had to endure after what had turned out to be government-sponsored murder of the young and promising military officer. Recent events point to one conclusive end; that the Akufo Addo government set up Major Mahama and got him murdered to achieve a self-serving interest of fighting Galamsey.
President Akufo Addo made audacious speeches of how he intended to banish Galamsey. He launched what was seen as unrestrained attacks on young men and women who were engaged in the act. In the process, some innocent youth men and women were killed. It was said that in the process of cleansing the system, others must fall for the right thing to be done. Even when it was rumored that it was Akufo Addo’s marauding miscreants who killed these young men and women looking for gold through unconventional means, the killings were blamed on caved-in Galamsey pits.
In the process of the supposed fight against Galamsey, Major Mahama was murdered at Denkyira Obuase. His gruesome murder was justified by the then DCE for the area on radio. Sensing that the DCE’s statement exposed the NPP’s agenda, he was suspended and a supposed investigation launched into his conduct. Till date, nothing has been heard about the suspension and investigation. Rather, the DCE who justified Major Mahama’s murder was secretly dispatched to Ghana Maritime Authority as deputy CEO. It has come to light that in the history of Ghana Maritime Authority, there has never been deputy CEO until Akufo Addo carved that position to reward the DCE who superintended over the killing of Major Mahama.
As if this wicked act was not enough, it has now emerged that the Akufo Addo government only chased out those engaged in Galamsey so they could create space for their Party gurus to engage in the act in order to raise money to finance activities of the NPP. Today, courtesy Ekow Ewusi, Ghanaians now know that the Akufo Addo government seized excavators from Galamseyers and , in some instances, sent them to cites to work for NPP Galamsey kingpins.
When Anas Aremeyaw Anas exposed the rot at the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Galamsey of which Charles Bissue, husband of deputy Information Minister Maame Dokua, Western regional Secretary of NPP and presidential staffer, the government rubbished the investigation. Charles Bissue was cleared by the President. Recent revelations of how Prof Frimpong Boateng put together NPP Galamsey kingpins led by NPP Ashanti regional chairman, Wontumi, explain why Charles Bissue was left off the hook. He was apparently working for the government and making accounts of the corrupt Galamsey money to the NPP through the presidency.
A Galamsey fight that Major Mahama had to be killed was apparently a facade. Akufo Addo orchestrated the killing of the young man just to pave way for his Party people to profit from Galamsey. The family of Major Mahama may be powerless to avenge the death of their son but the military, as I know it, is not powerless. The military must not look on unconcerned. They must rise up to fight the Akufo Addo government. That is the only way their slain colleague will rest in peace.
A time has come in this country that all of us must rise up to save Ghana. This exercise cannot be deferred. It’s a call to communal duty.
