Full Text: Amidu responds to presidency’s comment after accepting his resignation

Ghana’s first Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu has responded to comments by the presidency over his resignation from office.

The Former Special Prosecutor, prior to his resignation, made a corruption risk assessment of the Agyapa Royalties and concluded that there were breaches of the Public Procurement Act and the Public Financial Management Act with regards to how the advisors of the gold royalty fund, Agyapa Royalties agreement were procured.

The Citizen Vigilante further disclosed that the process involving the transaction raised reasonable suspicion of bid-rigging and corruption.

The corruption risk assessment indicated that the procurement of service providers for the transaction showed possible cronyism and nepotism which could result in illicit financial activities and money laundering and was poised on prosecuting the actors.

However, according to him his has been receiving threats on his life ever since he released the report after the President failed to dictate to him what to do with the report hence resigned from office.

But the Presidency rubbished Mr. Amidu’s claim with various levels of accusations level against him
