Residents of Mamedo in the Akatsi South District of the Volta Region were on Monday 26th November, thrown into a state of grief, when four children; Beauty -8, Ernest 6, Perfect 2, and Kwadzo Adzamli 2, drown in a pit after a downpour.
The four, Beauty, Perfect and Ernest were children of Madam Olivia Badagbor, while Kwadzo Adzamli was the son of Madam Korsonde Adzamli. The four were said to have gone playing after a downpour that evening between the hours of 4- 5pm.
Confirming the story to Awake News, the Assembly member for the Dzogadze electoral area, Hon. Augustine Norfe Agbozo said he received the news later that evening and rushed to the scene.
“I am not in the community, I only received a call later that evening and had to rush to the scene. When I got there, the four Beauty, Perfect, Ernest and Kwadzo were laid lifeless on the floor around the pit. The pit was actually dagged for mud which is being used for construction workers in the area. I just can’t tell how they got there after the rain.” he said.
He added that, upon reaching the scene, he informed the Abor District Command of the Ghana Police Service, who came and conveyed the bodies.
The bodies have since been deposited at the Abor Sacred Heart hospital morgue.
