The Association of former Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Volta Region has congratulated former President John Dramani Mahama on his outstanding and landslide victory in the NDC’s Flagbearer contest last Saturday, February 23.
The outcome of the contest, the Association notes affirms the support Mahama enjoys within the party as the Leader and Flagbearer of the NDC going into the 2020 elections.
The Association also applauded the supporters of the party, the Council of Elders, Executives and delegates for their commitment and hard work leading to generally peaceful and well-organized elections.
While commending all the seven contestants for their maturity especially in events leading to and after the elections, the former MPs were encouraged by the acceptance of defeat graciously by the losing candidates and also their show of statesmanship by congratulating the winner, former President Mahama on his overwhelming victory.
According to the MPs, “this shows that the NDC after this very competitive Flag bearer contest, has come out more united and poised than ever before, and hopes this unity will continue into the 2020 General Elections, which we see the NDC winning, going by the present day hardships being experienced by Ghanaians under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo and the NPP government.”
“The Association urges the NDC to be guided at all times by its tenets of probity, transparency and accountability and look forward as major stakeholders of the Party in the Volta Region and in the Diaspora, to work and ensure its victory in 2020,” the association stated in a communique signed by its Chairman, J.Z. Amenowode.
