Personnel of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the police has arrested Kotei Dzanie, a former Member of the Council of State for Greater Accra Region, for driving on the flanks of the road.
Mr Dzanie was arrested along the Kpone-Dawhenya road, Saturday, for the traffic offence.
The operation was part of Citi FM’s collaboration with the MTTD to ensure sanity on our roads, especially on stretches where for heavy vehicular traffic, most drivers irresponsibly drive on the shoulders of the road, thereby, inconveniencing pedestrians and disciplined motorists who stay in the jam.
Citi news reports that Mr Dzanie was among nine other offenders arrested during the operation.
Indeed, the stream of traffic commuters sweat to endure on that stretch daily, particularly on Saturdays is unprecedented.
Citi FM reports that Kotei Dzanie and the nine other traffic offenders would be taken to the Regional MTTD, Accra, to face charges for their offence.
Some time in 2019, the late former President Rawlings had to come out of his vehicle, one such weekend evening, to direct traffic to ensure that the heavy vehicular congestion on parts of the stretch was eased.
