FLAGBEARER ASPIRANTS MUST PROVE THEIR COMMITMENT TO US

Years have turned to months, months to weeks and now, we have few days to elect our flagbearer to lead us to victory 2020. The 23rd February, 2019 is an important day for the NDC and the Ghanaian people because it will be a day where the people will regain another hope as they wait for 2020 to go to the polls.

First of all, we wish to applaud the seven candidates who have shown up and proven prepared to lead the party into the 2020 elections. May the good Lord strengthen you all. The efforts put by the leadership ranging from branch to National can also not be underestimated as far as preparations towards the congress are concerned.

UHAS TEIN has observed with keen interest the processes and issues leading to the congress including petitions to NEC, Council of elders and even the Law court. The various media engagements have also been well observed. Although we find some of the actions not appropriate to the betterment of the NDC, we also see them to be a clear indication of the internal democracy of our party.

UHAS TEIN has also observed that all the aspirants and their various team members have put and are still putting in much effort to ensure victory come 23rd February, 2019. That is also applaudable.

We must state emphatically that, in us much individual teams need a victory in the congress, the major interest of party members is victory 2020. It is obvious that a single flagbearer aspirant and his team cannot win the elections in 2020. The only thing that will bring us victory in 2020 elections is UNITY and TOLERANCE.

Our fear for this release is, as to whether other teams will come together and support whoever wins the flagbearer for us to secure victory come 2020 or not. This is becoming a fear because of the stature and utterances observed to have been made by some aspirants and their supporters.

It is therefore important that all aspirants prove to us (the membership of NDC and delegates) that they are putting the party first and not their parochial interest.

We want to use this medium to call on the leadership of NDC, aspirants and all stakeholders to hold an event where all aspirant will prove to us that it’s about the party but not each person’s self-interest by giving us their words that, they will support anyone who emerges as the flagbearer to win 2020. Party members and leadership must also tolerate each candidate and give them equal treatment to ensure level field play. Failure to do so, we will have some doubts. Our sufferings including dodging lectures and quizzes cannot be in vain. Even though, this is coming from UHAS TEIN, we believe that we are communicating the concerns of many other TEINs and other party faithfuls.

The best weapon we need in our party now is unity especially, among former executives and current executive, Executives and council of elders and among flagbearer aspirants.

We believe that our view shall be considered and worked towards appropriately.

Asirifi Isaac Gunu (President).
