NDC members

The Deputy Chief Whip of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Parliament and a member of parliament for Banda Constituency, Ahmed Ibrahim has revealed five of their members have tested positive for the Coronavirus.

Ahmed Ibrahim in an interview 3FM 92.7 a subsidiary of Media General said the NDC side detected that five people from their side were infected so they were made isolate.

The Speaker of Parliament Right Honorable Bagbin has earlier revealed that 15 MPs have tested positive for Coronavirus.

Even though according to him there was a meeting between the leadership of the house in dealing with the issue, there were equally social media reports that suggest some of the MPs who tested positive were not self-isolating and some have refused to do the Parliamentary mandatory testing which made the speaker threaten that if the lawmakers don’t cooperate, he will be forced to give names of those who have tested positive for the virus that has so far killed over 400 Ghanaians with over 5000 active cases.

Meanwhile, Member of Parliament for Builsa south Dr. Clement Apaak has also appealed to the leadership of Parliament to consider down the chamber after 15 members of the house tested positive.
He believes judging from how contagious the Coronavirus is, allowing Parliamentary duties to continue will put all members of the house and staff of the house at risk.
