Fight against chemical contamination of fruit and vegetables – Prof. Gatsi urges the Church

The Dean of University of Cape Coast School of Business, Prof. John Gatsi has admonished the Church to collaborate with relevant government agencies to campaign against inappropriate use of chemicals by vegetable farmers and fruit sellers to protect the health of Ghanaians and family incomes.

Prof. John Gatsi made his comment when he was giving his acceptance speech as the Chairman at the Annual Harvest of Christ the King Catholic Cathedral at Akatsi on Sunday 8th December 2019.

He called on the “Church to work with relevant government agencies to campaign against inappropriate use of chemicals by vegetable farmers and fruit sellers to protect the health of Ghanaians and family incomes.”

Prof Gatsi explained that annual harvest by the Church is a reminder to members to be productive and hardworking though fundraising is the ultimate goal.

He bemoaned the situation in the country in which “almost everything natural is being destroyed” adding that “Our forests, farmlands and the produce from the farmlands.”

Prof. Gatsi informed the gathering that the MP for Akatsi South, Hon. Bernard Ahiafor who is a guest of honor was his classmate at Sixth form in Ketasco and year mate at University of Ghana, Legon.
