Information reaching Awake News indicates that the decision by one of Ghana’s finest actors, John Dumelo to contest for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Primaries of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has sent fear and panic within the leadership of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the constituency.
According to Awake News sources within the camp of the NPP in constituency, the development did not only shake the constituency but the NPP’s national leadership.
If John wins the NDC primaries it will spell doom for us [the NPP]. I’m just wondering how Lydia [the incumbent MP] is going match John in 2020 – NPP activist told Awake News
According to the sources, the NPP sees John Dumelo as a huge threat to the incumbent Member of Parliament, Lydia Alhassan – the widow of the late NPP MP, Mr. Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko.
For the NPP in the constituency, though they are fully aware of Mr. Dumelo’s ambition to enter parliament, they were sure the sensational actor and entrepreneur will do so from Volta Region hence the shock.
John Dumelo, we are told picked the form following the decision of the two-time NDC parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon, Delali Kwasi Brempong not to contest.
In December, 2018, John Dumelo had picked forms to contest for the seat after it became vacant following the death of Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko but pulled out for reasons yet to be made public.
