Errors in limited voter registration figures will never affect data quality – EC

Bossman Asare, Deputy Electoral Commissioner

The Electoral Commission (EC) has debunked the notion that errors recorded in the voter registration figures in its recent publication will affect the final data quality.

On Monday, the commission tabled corrections to certain figures released during an update on the ongoing limited voter registration exercise.

This development from the stables of the EC didn’t sink well with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) which pointed holes in the inaccuracies in the previously released data.

During a press conference on Monday, May 13, Deputy Electoral Commissioner Dr. Bossman Asare cleared the air surrounding the said errors, stating that the errors will not compromise the integrity of the data.

“We have taken the necessary steps to ensure that those things do not happen again. When you look at the figures in reality, we have the Ghana map and the bar graph, all the figures in the bar graph are all correct.

“You can see the real figures were correct, but the segregation of the various districts, so I don’t see this as anything major for people to make a beef about. We think that everything should be fine,” he stated.

Bossman Asare gave a breakdown of the figures for the various regions for day 6 of the registration.
