Former Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has responded to a viral video in which he is seen swearing on his life and that of his first son to stay true to the party, saying it is not a new video.
In the video that has gone viral on social media, Mr. Ankrah is seen swearing that may he die if he betrays the NDC for money in the upcoming election.
Responding to the viral video which was published on various media platforms, the NDC Director of Election described the publication as mischievous, inaccurate, misleading and deliberately twisted to suit the agenda of NDC detractors.
The video, he said was made in 2020 prior to the elections that saw former President John Dramani Mahama defeated.
According him, a ceremony was arranged at his own behest ahead of the past general elections of 2020 when he was the Director of Elections of our party.
“It is yet another example of how seriously I took my role and how committed I was ensure that we did our work with utmost integrity in the interest of our party and its members and supporters” he noted.
He revealed that the said video has nothing to do with the party’s national executives and the party officials in charge of managing the upcoming 2024 general elections.
He therefore urge the public to ignore the fake news and also called on members and supporters of the NDC to rally behind party officials and support the national officers in the quest to win the next elections and deliver the people of Ghana from the hardships and misgovernance of the Akufo-Addo/ Bawumia government.
