Election 2024: Electoral Commission set May 30 for replacement of voter ID cards

Electoral Commission Chairperson Jean Mensah Adukwei

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that voters who have misplaced their ID cards can replace them from May 30 to June 14, 2024

Apart from the replacement exercise, the Electoral Commission also announced that the transfer of votes and applications for proxy voting will also be done during that same period.

According to the Commission, the exercise will occur at the Commission’s district offices, selected electoral areas and public universities.

The Commission cautioned the public against standing as guarantors for more than 10 people. It added that standing as a guarantor for minors and non-Ghanaians is a criminal offence punishable by law.

Ahead of the 2024 elections, the Electoral Commission is working to ensure a credible voter register. The processes towards achieving this goal include the registration exercise that begins on May 7 to be followed by replacement, verification of details in the register, transfer of votes and proxy application.
