Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC) is set to complete realigning of its staff at the headquarters in three months’ time, Dr Eric Bossman Asare has disclosed.
The Deputy EC Chairperson in charge of Corporate Services hinted that the massive shakeup would particularly affect departments including Communications, Procurement, Legal and IT.
He said some staff would be transferred while new units and departments would either be created or realigned.
Dr Asare told Citi News that the Commission had undertaken several reviewing activity and said on authority that within the shortest possible time, in three months, at most, the EC would have a well-functioning Communication Unit.
“Perhaps, it will likely be a Public Affairs Department…a full department on its own with a director who will be engaged in our activities,” he said in response to a question on why he has, for some time now, become the mouthpiece of the EC, when the outfit has a communication person in Eric Kofi Dzakpasu.
Citi News reports that the shakeup had already begun with, for example, the Head of Communications at the headquarters, Eric Kofi Dzakpasu, being transferred to the Volta Region as Regional Director, whilst his deputy, Yussif Ayouba, has been moved to a district office.
Joseph Kwaku Asiamah, Director of Finance at the headquarters, goes to head the Commission’s Training Center in the Ashanti Region.
