Reports form Paming, a mining community in the Eastern Region, say an illegal mining pit has caved in on three persons, killing them instantly.
The pit, according to the reports, Thursday, was accessed by several miners who did not have their own mining sites but needed to make ends meet.
The three, whose names were undisclosed, went to the pit on Wednesday when unfortunately, the weak pit collapsed on them, burying them.
The reports say families of the three became suspicious when the miners did not return home yesterday and after several failed telephone calls to the three, the families reported the matter to the Paming chief and elders, who mobilised some youth to the pit, where they saw that the pit has caved in.
The youth dug the pit only to realise that the three had died in it.
