Dr. Lawrence writes: We now know Akufo-Addo’s men are bankrupt with ideas

Nana Addo and Bawumia

One funny thing about this Nana Akufo-Addo’s government is that even though they told us in 2016 that they have the men, we now know that the men they have are bankrupt with ideas and real solutions.

They don’t do simple analysis of their actions but dump their reasoning on Ghanaians, hoping that the Ghanaian voter will accept the end results.Let me give you an example: The Black Stars were allocated $6.3 million to go and win the AFCON Cup in Egypt. They reached the one-sixteenth finals but managed to spend a whooping $4.6 million. The Sports Minister is asking Ghanaians to clap for him because he has managed to return $1.7 million to the government. Who else doesn’t see this as an insult?

But what I am asking Ghanaians to do is to keep quiet over this issue. In fact, I wished nobody talks about it again. My reason being that the more we talk about it, the NPP will come forward and tell us Nana Addo is a listening President. Nana will then form an “awam” committee to investigate this corruption. The $1.7million left would be given to this “awam” committee to chop for free. After they have chopped our $1.7 million, they will come out and clear the Sports Minister and all those involved in this corruption. The President will praise the committee for a good work done and the issue will be put to rest. That will end this matter. We as Ghanaians will lose all the $6.3 million and any punishment meant for these thieves.

What I will tell Ghanaians is to be quiet on the issue at the Sports Ministry and pretend like nothing has gone wrong. Maybe the government will use the $1.7 million to clear some filt in Accra. Then in 2020, we vote massively against this insensitive, incompetent and corrupt government. That is the only way Ghanaians can tell this government and any other government that they are discerning and cannot be taken for granted anymore. I personally think this is one way you, a voter, can help move Ghana forward. Ghana needs to move forward but this NPP government must first go.
