Dr. Lawrence writes on TODAY’S GHANA

Two years ago, a Presidential Candidate promised the Ghanaian youth jobs to do, a year in his Presidency when he was asked to tell the number of jobs he has created, he didn’t know the number but he was able to tell us the inflation figure as of today. Nana Akufo Addo is sleeping on the Job. I don’t know why the Ghanaian youth are not angry about this.

[ads1]Two years ago, a presidential candidate and his party saw all the corruption associated with Ghana participation in the Brazil World Cup. Today, when the President was asked about the White Paper on the Commission that investigated it, he said he has completely forgotten about it and everybody seems to be fine with the answer.

Two years ago, a Presidential Candidate and his party saw every wrong with the presence of the two Guantanamo prisoners in Ghana. Their staying permit has expired and today when the President was asked about when they are leaving, his answer seems to suggest that he has no idea and people are defending it.

Two years ago a Presidential Candidate went around and said the price of the Kasoa Interchange was overpriced and corrupt but didn’t present any evidence. Today, when he was asked about the corruption of his appointees, Nana Addo is asking Ghanaians to present evidence of his corrupt appointees before he takes action, and nobody is talking about it. When the NPP is in power, Ghanaians have to provide evidence to prove corruption. When NDC is in power, mere perception that they are corrupt is good enough.

Two years ago, a Presidential Candidate could see corruption all over President Mahama. Today, when Nana Addo was asked to justify why his appointees are not corrupt, he said he called his appointees to his office, asked them about the allegations and cleared them of any wrongdoing. Why wouldn’t I say, Nana Addo just wanted to be President. He is not ready to work

Two years ago, Mrs Bawumiah told the Fulanis to vote NPP for their protection because she is one of them. Today, this same party in power has declared war on these same Fulanis. Do you remember another campaign message like that? This is a party whose pronouncements in opposition is completely different from when they are in government and you think that is ok?

Two years ago, a Presidential Candidate promised the family of Hon. JB Danquah-Adu that he will find the killers of their royal son within 3 months of assuming power. Today, over one year in government, the reward the family of JB can get is the missing report of the autopsy. Who in Ghana would have believed this two years ago if it had been told? Today, it is real.

Two years ago, a Presidential Candidate promised the chiefs and people of Western Region of a new region within 6 months after winning the elections. Today after one year, there is still one Western Region and people are defending this.

A year ago, President Mahama handed a peaceful Ghana to Nana Akufo Addo. Today, no one feels safe in Ghana and people who went as far as ransacking a sitting court are walking free in the country. The country remains unsafe each passing day and civil society groups seem not to know.

We have a Minister of Sanitation who has not worked for a whole year but gets paid every month. If Mahama were President, the NPP would have called that corruption. When Nana had the opportunity, he still defended his “elephant-sized” 110 Ministries after it is so clear that most of them are just not functioning.
The list goes on and on and on.

Had President Mahama won the 2016 elections, the NPP would be disturbing Ghanaians with the competence of Nana Addo. Ghana would not have known real peace. God makes no mistakes. Today, we are all witnesses to how corrupt, incompetent and impotent Nana Addo is. It has already become clear that in 2020, the NPP will not campaign based on the situation on the ground but will only talk of figures. We will remind Ghanaians the promises of the NPP and how far they have kept them. Let me give a hint. We will use the Free SHS to campaign in 2020.
