Don’t Take Ghana Security For Granted” – Boakye Agyarko

Mr. Boakye Agyarko, former Minister of Energy has called on Ghanaians not to take the hard-fought peace and security in the country for granted by assuming that it is inherent in our nature, saying that the peace and security we boast off has been cultivated over thousands of years by establishing norm, rules and laws.

According to him, anytime there are breaches in the rules, norms, laws and regulations it leaves a violence inherent and a very bad nature of human being.

The Former Minister made these known when he donated a Mahindra 4X4 single cabine Pick-up to the Odumase District Police Command in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region.

Mr. Boakye Agyarko presented the keys of the Car to Simon Kweku Tetteh, MCE for Lower Manya Krobo Municipality who is the head of the Municipal Security Council.

The MCE upon receiving the keys of the brand new Pick-up handed over the keys to the Odumase Police Commander, ASP./Mr. Harry Selormey to improve Police operations in the Municipality.

Addressing the forum, he said “As a nation, our minds must be focus on cultivating the atmosphere and the environment that enhances our safety and the elements on gradience of this environment includes, law and law enforcement, education, not just formal education but education in the sense of understanding our boundaries as individuals and not crossing our boundaries in other to affect other people negatively. Respect for one another and making sure that we do not shield wrong dowers, if we do all of this to create the echoes system that sustains our safety and security then we can be proud of ourselves that we have what is necessary and right to make peace and security prevail” he averred.

He indicated that, he has had a discussion with the District command of Odumasi six months ago as to what their critical need was in his quest to supports indigenes in the area.

“In fact, when I spoke to them, I realized they have many needs which includes, accommodation, staffing issues, housing but the critical need was vehicle. So, we settled on the first critical need which was a pick up and I promised to get them a pick up. Intervening event sought of delayed the procurement until now” he indicated.

“Basically, mine was a citizens response to a declining security situation in the Krobo Area I owed to do to myself and to the community”. he added.

He promised of supporting the people of Krobo, by saying, “there are many things that I wish the Krobo area had because this is an area of economic potentials, a railway line is being constructed to link the Tema Port to Ghana’s main water body which is the Akosombo reservoir. Is going to open up a transit possibility and wide economic possibilities of this area if we are smart enough seize those opportunities”. he emphasized.

He opined that, one of the key ingredients to making the economic prospect happen is the safety and security of the area as he believes providing vehicles and motor bicycles to do fast response to critical situations will improve safety and security of the area by propelling investors to feel at ease to create property and wealth in the area.

On the contrary, Mr Boakye Agyarko expressed that, he is interested in creating the necessary economic infrastructure that will lead to attrack investors to do their business in the Krobo area and once the railway line is in, it will create a lot of opportunities for the people in the area.

ASP Harry Selormey expressed their heart felt appreciation to Boakye Agyarko for supporting their challenging operations and assured him that they will put this vehicle received into good use to enhance Police operations in the Municipality.

The short colorful ceremony was witnessed by NPP party faithfuls in the constituency, Police Officers and the general public.
