Joyce Bawa Mogtari, Former Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture and Special Aide to Former President John Mahama, has cautioned Ghanaians against being deceived by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to her, the Vice President lacks a new vision for the country, as he is a central figure in the current administration, which she claims has mismanaged the economy since taking office in January 2017.
Mrs. Mogtari further added that a vote for Bawumia will mean an extension of Akufo-Addo’s rule to a third term. This, she argued, will help the incumbent President to escape accountability.
In a social media post, Mrs. Mogtari said “Don’t be deceived by Bawumia’s rhetoric. He is not a fresh face; he is not his own man and he has no new vision. He is an integral part of this corrupt Akufo-Addo government. A vote for Bawumia is essentially a vote for Akufo-Addo’s third term and an endorsement of the corruption and state capture that has plagued our country.”
“This is simply an attempt to avoid accountability for their actions. Ghanaians need accountability from the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government. They will not get it from another Akufo-Addo/Bawumia Part II,” she added.
