The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has presented Cristiano Ronaldo with an award for being the all-time top goal scorer of the UEFA Champions League.

Despite leaving Europe nearly two years ago, the Portuguese football icon remains unmatched in this achievement.

Regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, Ronaldo’s record in the competition spans his time at Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus. He won five Champions League trophies—one with Manchester United and four with Real Madrid.

Before leaving Europe in January 2023, the Madeira-born forward featured in 183 UCL games, scoring 140 goals. He currently plays for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

When asked to single out his favorite title-winning campaign, the former Real Madrid star said it is difficult to choose his best moment in the competition.

However, the five times Ballon D’or winner said “Well, it’s difficult to pick one but we always mention the first one. The first one is the most special one. I remember when I was in Manchester, I won and I scored in the final too; I missed a penalty too, but it was good. I remember that it was so special.”

The award was presented to him by UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin.
