A total of 43 markets in Ahafo Region are to be disinfected under the aupicies of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development on Monday, 30th March 2020 with the aim of preventing the spread of COVID-19 in the region.
The exercise is to roll out the presidential directive to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to ensure improving hygienic standards in all market places in the country.
A letter from the office of the Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council(AhCC) dated 27th March 2020 with reference number AhRCC/TJ/396, the exercise which includes the spraying of all public toilets and slaughter houses in the region which has six(6) districts is expected to be conducted simultaneously by the Zoomlion Company Limited in the community markets juridiction.
With this, the Honourable Regional Minister is to make arrangement with the six(6) Municipal and District Chief Executives(MDCEs) to engage market women and patrons on the need to vacate the market places, public latrines and slaughter houses to give way for the exercise.
The release reveals that local radio stations, information vans and community information centres must educate the people to stay off the exercise and see the importance of it as well.
Affected markets in Tano North( Duayaw Nkwanta, Yamfo, Tanoso, Friday, Main, Bomaa and Techire), Tano South( Techimantia, Derma, Bechem and Brosanko), Asutifi South( Hwidiem, Dadiesoaba, Sienchem, Manhyia, Twabidi, Kwaku Nyuma, Mehame and Kabile), Asutifi North( Kenyasi No.1, Kenyasi No.2, Ntotroso and Gambia No.2), Asunafo North( Goaso daily, Goaso wedneaday, Goaso plantain, Akrodie daily, Akrodie tuesday, Ayomso, Mim daily, Mim friday, Bediako, Asumura, Dominase and Kasapin) and Asunafo South( Dantano, Nobekwa, Anwiam, Kwapong, Sankore and Abuom).
Asutifi South has 9 markets, Asutifi North is 5, Tano North has 7, Tano South has 4, Asunafo North has 12 and Asunafo South is 6.
