COVID-19: Osu Mantse Advises Media To Be Cautious In Their Reportage

Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, the Osu Mantse and President of the Osu Traditional Council has entreated the media to be extremely cautious on the COVID-19 (Corona Virus) in their reportage and not to cause unnecessary fear and panic.

The Osu Mantse said this in support to the President’s directive on measures to prevent further spread of the COVID-19 (Corona Virus) in the country.

In a press statement issued by the Traditional Council and sighted by this portal, the Osu Mantse said greater hygiene at homes and compounds should be encourage by placing water and soap at vantage points.

Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI encourages all persons to be transparent and report early to health facilities if they feel unwell so as to help contain the virus.

IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(COVID-19)
The President of the Republic of Ghana on the 15th of March, 2020 issued a directive on measures to prevent further spread of the COVID-19 (Corona Virus) in Ghana. As head of the Osu Traditional area and the President of the Traditional Council, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, pledge his support to this directive and advice that the following is strictly adhered to

All appointments, functions and visits allowed into the Osu Palace are to be suspended, unless deemed extremely important and in such cases numbers limited to only ten persons will be allowed with permission.

All members of the Osu Traditional Council and the Osu Mantse Palace are respectfully asked to cancel all meetings, functions and activities until further notice.

Employees, dependents and all persons within the Osu Mantse palace and its surroundings are to observe the social distancing protocol of one meter (three feet) when interacting with each other.

All persons in the Osu Mantse palace are advised to limit their travel and movement and to be circumspect in their travel plans.

All annual festivals, funerals, naming and marriage ceremonies and social gatherings which attract crowds and large gatherings should be called off till further notice.

Gatherings in various markets, community trading centers and all public places in the Osu traditional area should be discouraged.

Greater hygiene at homes and compounds should be encouraged by placing water and soap at vantage points.

The Osu stool encourages all persons to be transparent and report early to health facilities if they feel unwell so as to help contain the virus. This is a responsibility we must take as citizens of Ghana to protect our homes and families.

We entreat the media to be extremely cautious in their reportage and not to cause unnecessary fear and panic.
