Covid-19: NDC Volta youth wing embarks on education; shares nose mask to vulnerable groups

The Volta Regional youth wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has launched a campaign against the Covid-19 pandemic dubbed, “operation protect the youth and vulnerable against Covid-19”.

The initiative which was launched on Friday 8 May, 2020 woud see the youth wing of the party embark on a massive educational campaign across all major market centers, lorry parks and public places in the Volta region.

The campaign has since started with an engagement and the sharing of nose masks to market women and drivers in the Ho and Hohoe municipalities

According to the Regional Youth Organizer of the party, Mathias Alagbo, “the exercise would see the distribution of a total of 1,000 locally manufactured standardized nose masks to these selected groups in a bid to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic,” he stated.

He added that, “the mask will protect you from contracting the deadly disease. When you put on the nose mask and someone has the virus, it protects you from it. Everyone should continue to wash their hands under running water and use sanitisers,” he advised, urging the general public to continue to adhere to the Covid-19 protocols.

Though the Volta region has since recorded 9 recoveries from a total of 32 of the Covid-19 case counts, the NDC says more needs to be done to minimize the infection rate.
