The Municipal Chief Executive of the Keta Municipal Assembly, Godwin Edudzi Effah has began a sensitization campaign on the deadly Covid-19 pandemic across markets in the municipality.
The MCE started the campaign at the Keta market on Saturday, where he engaged the market folks on the preventive measures and the steps the assembly has taken to minimize the spread of the virus.
According to him, the decision to enter the market is to reemphasize the urgency in the campaign against the deadly novel coronavirus.
“About 90% of traders here are aware of the disease because of the media campaign we have been engaging in and so, almost everyone of them might have heard about the deadly Covid-19 but for the fact that the education might have not sunk well, I am in market myself to reinforce the urgency attached to the fight against Covid-19.
The NCCE and the Information Services Department are doing really well within the municipality as far as this campaign is concerned and so, it’s our only hope that our people take these measures seriously to safeguard themselves,” he told Starr News.
At each of the entrances to the Keta market is a Veronica bucket filled with water with an added soap, a point at which patrons are entreated to wash their hands before entering the market.
He added that the Assembly has formed a taskforce that is monitoring social activities within the municipality in order to ensure maximum compliance with the President’s directive.
