The Management of Jaylis School, a private basic school at Kenyasi in the Asutifi North District, Ahafo Region has donated some items worth thousands of cedis to the district in the fight of COVID-19.
The items presented at the forecourt of the assembly with the presence of the District Chief Executive(DCE), District Coordinating Director, District Planning Officer, Head of Information Department,Heads of Departments and some teaching staff of the school include tissue papers, liquid soap, hand sanitizer and ten(10) big plastic containers designed as veronica buckets.
Presenting the items on behalf of the school, Mrs Yaa Konadu Abban, Proprietress stated that the fight against COVID-19 pandemic in the country is a collective responsibility so the management thought it wise and appropriate to support the assembly in the fight.
According to Mrs. Abban the assembly is doing well by positioning veronica buckets, tissues and liquid soaps at vantage places in the district especially the capital, Kenyasi where the school is located but that does not mean other hands should not be on deck to curb the dreadful virus.
She explained, for the assembly to be on top of issues related to COVID-19, preventive items like what the school presented must be available and in abundance for the residents irrespective of where one finds him or herself and it can be achieved when individual, institutions and others assist the assembly.
She said now that schools are on break per the directives of His Excellency the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country the pupils are with the parents and guardians and the only way the school can help both parents and their wards is to provide the said preventive materials to the assembly to cater for all.
Mrs. Yaa Konadu Abban mentioned the disease is dangerous so residents in the district especially pupils must adhere to all the preventive measures designed by health professionals for the district not to record a case. She further said with the little donation made the school believes it will go a long way to protect residents against the disease which had infected over 200 persons in the country. To her this will not be the end of the school assisting the assembly to combat COVID-19 because leaving the assembly to provide preventive items against the disease alone will not succeed.
On behalf of the Asutifi North District Assembly the DCE, Honourable(Hon) Anthony Mensah affectionately called Adwumawura thanked the management of the school for being on board to fight the disease although the assembly is providing all the needed materials.
Hon. Mensah said per the nature of the disease there is no way the government alone can prevent it so for the school to supply the assembly representing the central government is refreshing and of good course of which others must emulate for their own good. He disclosed that if all hands are put on deck to fight the disease in no time the country will be free from the disease.
He appealed to individuals and companies in his district to assist provide hand sanitizers, tissues papers, veronica buckets and liquid soaps for the assembly to distribute to all communities to prevent the disease. To him the assembly is doing all it can to protect residents amid COVID-19 but it is achievable if only they adhere to prevent measures.
