The Member of Parliament(MP) for Asutifi North and his District Chief Executive(DCE) in Ahafo Region have said the successful disinfection exercise to prevent COVID-19 outbreak in the region is due to the indepth of education relayed to the people.
The two(2) disclosed this at Ntotroso in the district in an exclusive interview with AWAKE NEWS when 43 markets, public latrines and slaughter houses in the region had a bite of the nationwide disinfection exercise under the Local Government and Rural Development Ministry with Zoomlion Company Limited in-charge of the spraying.
According to the MP, Honourable(Hon). Joseph Daha, his district likewise the rest(5) in the region received a short notice for the said exercise to be executed but with that not been excused, MPs, Municipal Districg Chief Executives(MDCEs) and those who matter to make the exercise fruitful put some measures in place to let residents understand anf embrace the program for it to achieve it objectives.
The MP added that team work played critical role ensuring the exercise fruitfulness. He said the assemblies engaged the people at all times and opinion leaders who are core when it comes to such initiative which is vital to all.
Hon. Anthony Mensah the DCE who stood on his feet over two(2) hours to exhibit his skills in spraying explained that local radio stations and information centres where used to roll out the advocacy which was necessary. He said the education on the local radio stations picked by information centres allowed residents to phone-in with their questions and contribution to make the exercise the best.
The DCE praised by some residents in the district for fully engaging in the spraying of shops mentioned, opportunities were also given to him and his colleagues in the region to throw more light on the exercise on many radio shows designed for listeners. Per his observation, most local information centres do not broadcast programs of the radio stations but with this exercise his assembly confronted the owners of the centres to air their education because it is of great benefit to all.
In the region the residents fully adhered to the directives of the assemblies( Asunafo North, Asunafo South, Asutifi North, Asutifi South, Tano North and Tano South) by not opening shops, food vendors staying off, commercial vehicles not working, no roaming unnecessarily, commercial motorbikes not working among others which made the exercise successful and incident-free.
Elsewhere at Goaso the regional capital, Hon. Evans Opoku Bobie, Regional Minister cum MP for Asunafo North entreated the people of Ahafo to respect all the measures detailed by World Health Organization(WHO) to prevent them from been infected. He assured them of the government putting all the needed efforts to curb the spread of the disease so they ought to also play their part by adhering to the measures.
At Hwidiem the capital of Asutifi South District, Osuodumgya Barima Apea Dwaah Boafo II, Leader and President of Hwidiem Traditional Council thanked the government headed by His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the exercise because it is a giant step to curb the spreading of CORONAVIRUS. He affirmed traditional leaders position to support the government to fight the deadly disease.
