North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa has slammed President Akufo-Addo’s commitment to fighting corruption.

This was as a result of the recommendation of the Parliamentary Committee to probe into the controversial procurement of Sputnik V vaccines.

The Parliamentary Committee recommended that, the Finance Ministry retrieves GH¢16,331,640 paid to Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum. This amount was said to have been paid by government in the Health Ministry’s bid to procure the Russian vaccines through a middleman.

The nine(9) member Committee also looked into the circumstances under which the Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, entered into a deal with the Sheikh and S.L Global without seeking Parliamentary approval.

Mr. Okudzeto-Ablakwa expressed shock that the Health Minsiter, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu was still at post despite the findings by the Parliamentary Committee.

Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa in a post on Facebook said, “that the Health Minister remains at post confirms that he didn’t act alone & that he enjoys the active support of the President”.

Touching on President Akufo-Addo’s failure to fight corruption, he wrote; “Akufo-Addo promised to fight corruption but corruption has fought & defeated him with cheeky ease”.
