The Minister for Communications and Digitalization, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, paid a courtesy call on the Omanhene of Sefwi Wiawso, Katakyie Kwasi Bumangama II to officially inform him and his traditional leaders of the 2021 Girls in ICT celebration in the community.
Ursula Owusu on September 12, began a seven-day working visit to the Western North Region and is expected to tour some selected centres for the training of girls in ICT.
Speaking on behalf of the Omanhene, the Adontenhene of Sefwi Wiawso, who doubles as the chief of Bodi, Nana Kwasi Ofori Ababio lauded President Akufo- Addo for the creation of the Western North Region.
He also commended Mrs Owusu-Ekuful for the strides made in her Ministry but was quick to draw her attention to the network challenges and cyber fraud incidents in the area.
The Minister of Communications and Digitilization Ursula Owusu-Ekuful in her remarks revealed she will provide connectivity to the rural and unserved areas through GIFEC’s Rural Telephony Project.
The Ablekuma West MP also established the various activities of the National Cybersecurity Centre to combat cyber-crime and promised her Ministry will continue to work assiduously to ensure Sefwi Wiawso and its environs remain safe from cybercrime.
However, Mrs Owusu-Ekuful duly invited the traditional leaders to the climax of the Girls in ICT celebration and solicited their support to educate and encourage young girls in learning ICT programmes.
