Chieftaincy tension mounting at Ada Foah

Rising tension due to alleged plans to secretly enstool a chief for Ada Foah has forced the Acting Mankralo of the stool to dissolve the old Ada Foah Chief’s Council.

Venting his anger at persons who were doing their worse to circumvent the tradition and custom of Ada Foah, Nene Kerker Zomabi III, who is also the Asafoatse (Warrior) of Ada Foah, pleaded with the Tema Regional Police Command to act on letters the Stool had served it to halt any unofficial enstoolment of an heir to the late Nene Tawiah Nanor Tetteyga IV, Ada Foah Chief, whose interment is yet to be announced by the Stool.

The tenure of the old Ada Foah Chief’s Council expired with the demise of Nene Tetteyga IV and it is the duty of the Stool to constitute a new council after the succeeding gate has introduced its candidate to the throne.

The Ada Foah Stool, by their customs and tradition, cannot enstool a successor to a deceased chief until the latter is interred and cleansing rituals are performed to usher in the next heir, who must come from a next gate.

The Ada Foah Traditional Area has 12 eligible gates.

At a news conference at Foah to calm the growing tension in the area, over rife rumours that an unknown gate is planning to enstool a successor to the late Nene Tawiah Nanor Kokotey Tetteyga IV, Nene Zomabi III said, “Until I give the green light, nobody…not even the rightful gate, can enstool a new chief to succeed our late chief.

“Ada Foah Traditional Area, as we all know, is mourning two prominent sons—Nene Tetteyga IV and Nene Asiedu Agbloe IV, Asafoatse of Longmobianse—and until we finally bury these two, especially our chief, nobody can hold himself as the new chief.

“Ada Foah, at the moment, has no substantive chief.”

On that note, Nene Zomabi III, in consultation with the Stool elders, melted the council that worked with the late chief, demanding it to properly account its stewardship to the Stool.

In the meantime, a committee had been instituted to plan the burial and funeral rites of the two deceased, thereafter, the elders of Stool would perform the necessary rites to usher in the eligible heir to the Ada Foah throne, Nene Zomabi III said.
