Chief Imam, Accra Zango Chief Welcome 14th Emir Of Kano At Kotoka

The National Chief Imam of Ghana, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, the Greater Accra Zango Chief, Alhaji Yahya Hamisu Baako and a host of dignitaries welcomed the 14th Emir Of Kano and the spiritual leader of Tijanniyah Sufi in Nigeria, Khalifa Muhammad Sanusi Lamido this morning following his arrival at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra.

The 14th Emir of Kano and Sufi of Tijanniyah is on a 6-day visit to Ghana. Khalifa Sanusi Lamido, received an official welcome upon his arrival at the Kotoka International Airport around 9:00 am this morning. The Emir was welcomed with traditional songs and eulogies to signify that the Nigerian 14th Emir of Kano is welcome in Ghana and was greeted by the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, the Greater Accra Zango Chief, Alhaji Sarki Yahya Hamisu Baako and his entire cabinet and sub-chiefs, Alhaji Ali Suraj among important dignitaries present at the Airport.

The leader of Tijanniyah sect in Nigeria will engage some prominent Chiefs and Islamic clerics to deliberate on matters of development and capacity building focusing mainly on the Muslim youth. He will also pay a courtesy call on the National Chief Imam where a durbar of Chiefs will be held at Fadama Astroturf to officially welcome him in Ghana. In what will be a historic occasion, the 14th Emir of Kano will join other Islamic Scholars for Qur’an recitation for Ghana on December 31 at the Kumasi Central Mosque.

Speaking on behalf of the Greater Accra Zango Chief, the Hausa Chief of Ablekuma Agape Gonse, Sarki Emir Sherif Adam revealed that the coming of 14th Emir of Kano is a perfect opportunity for the leaders to address Zango youth and deliberate on capacity building. He called on other traditional rulers to unite and ensure development in Zango communities across the country.
