[ads1]According to the Executive Secretary, several press releases on the subject matter including a recent press conference addressed by the leader of the largest Workers Union in the Country-ICU, has so far yielded very little results as the increases continues unabated, with the most recent one being yesterday. He noted that several attempts to draw the attention of authorities Including a petition on the same matter submitted to the Presidency in the month of September 2017 to the need to review the pricing formulae or build up and the taxes has equally not seen any noticeable results.
The Chamber said this has caused them to stage a peaceful street protest and demonstration together with several other Transport unions across the country and the general workforce with the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union.
The walk will start from the Obra Spot at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra through some major streets to the Accra Arts Centre, where another petition will be submitted to both the Ministries of Energy and Finance, The Parliament of Ghana, and the Office of the President.
CPC indicated that the excuses must end, Taxes must be reduced to bring some reductions and stability in prices. It urged the public and everyone who feels the pressures of these incessant increases in fuel prices to join the peaceful expression of hardship in their pockets.
