Former Presidential Staffer, Stan Xoese Dogbe has added his voice to the ongoing debate on the construction of the National Cathedral, a project President Akufo-Addo says is his personal vow to God.
In a Facebook post, Mr. Dogbe fears “The so-called cathedral, beyond it becoming a source of another state-led corruption, huge malfeasance et al” adding that the Cathedral has “will have no value to us as Ghanaians.”
For him, “God knows that the things he does not lack in the world, and for that matter in Ghana are church buildings. Places to worship him abound, from small to big.”
He is worried why President Akufo-Addo should be pulling down residential homes and work places that people need most to pave way for a construction of a cathedral for God, which, God does not need at least in Ghana.

You see, almost everything has become political in our country, Ghana. But respectfully, let’s be sincere for once, and despite our political leanings and the probable need to support any ‘rubbish’ our parties throw out there, and look up to God and shout out the fact that this whole idea, concept, vow, pledge or whatever it is to build a National Cathedral is a useless one. Completely useless.
God knows that the things he does not lack in the world, and for that matter in Ghana are church buildings. Places to worship him abound, from small to big. The so-called cathedral, beyond it becoming a source of another state-led corruption, huge malfeasance et al, it will have no value to us as Ghanaians.
You are pulling down badly needed residential homes and a few places of work to do this?
We are going to spend money to build a monument for our God who does not lack monuments?
Where are our priorities as a people and Government? Of all the socio-cultural and economic infrastructure deficits we have in this country, we found nothing than a cathedral to waste funds and resources on? Pull down buildings for? When in fact, there’s a lot of virgin land all round that could be used if there was really any justification for a cathedral?
God doesn’t need this. He knows what his children need and desire in this our beloved country!
Aaaaah!
It’s truly sad!!!!
