Roman Troedhandl, Managing Director, Canon Central and North Africa, said: “Access to education in Africa has many challenges, and today sub-Saharan Africa has the highest rates of education exclusion in the world according to the United Nations. Initiatives like Canon Day of Giving guarantee that we can make a measurable difference to the communities that need education systems in place, as well as make more children in Africa happy and optimistic about their future.”
In Africa, the funds raised will support an Enhanced Early Years Pre-Service Teacher Training programme in Ghana for the duration of three years. The programme will upgrade existing kindergarten classrooms through training and learning resources to support the teachers deliver higher quality, fact-based learning in the classroom.
