Brong Ahafo Communication Officers Hold Maiden Meeting

The Brong Ahafo regional communication team comprises the regional communication officer Charles Akowuah Tufoah and his Deputy Eric Adjei and 58 constituency communication officers and deputy communication officers from the 29 constituencies in the region.

Having obtained a landslide victory over his two contenders at the NDC Brong Ahafo regional conference, Charles Akowuah initiated several plans aimed at revamping the department which hitherto was practically non-existing. Notable amongst these initiatives were to organize a workshop to train his team on current trends in political communication and also equip them with the requisite knowledge to enhance their work as communicators.

On 22nd December 2018, the biggest of his plans were brought to fruition with the maiden workshop held at Casbee preparatory School on the Sunyani Abesim road. The workshop brought together prominent people in and around Sunyani who took turns to address the gathering of constituency communication officers.

Akowuah Charles in his speech emphasized the need for factual based communication. He tasked communicators to be circumspect in their work as communication officers since they represent the face of the party at all stages of party activities. He admonished communicators to always put the party first in everything they do in the field of communication. Message from the national communication officer Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi, was also shared with communicators. The officer also disclosed the direction of communication required of communicators as directed by the party’s communication directorate.

Eric Adjei who is as good as his boss reiterated on the need for communicators to establish a good rapport with radio hosts and communicators from the opposite side. He discouraged members on the use of abusive words and personal attacks.

Meanwhile, Maha the NDC Brong Ahafo regional organizer who graced the occasion, entreated the communicators to be team players emphasizing the need for communicators to build a good working relationship with their deputies. He admonished communicators to do away with the notion that their deputies are mere errand boys.

Yaw Brogya Gemfi, Former Ashanti Regional youth organizer, Takyi Arhin Thunder, Second regional vice Chairman, Hon Lawyer Elizabeth Ofosu Ajare, Former minister for Tourism and a host of guest also took turns to address the communicators. On her part, Hon Lawyer Ofosu Ajare disclosed that She will soon open a legal Chamber at Tuobodom where the latter hails from. She further assured the communicators of unflinching support from the party’s legal team as and when they encounter legal challenges in their course of work. Hon Lawyer Ofosu Ajare, however, advice communicators to desist from making unsubstantiated allegations against individuals when they cannot prove such allegations with tangible evidences.

Documents that would help the work of the communicators were also supplied. The communication officer also used the occasion to lunch social media platforms that the department have created and encourage members to make effective use of such platforms to enhance their work.

The program ended with members openly expressing their heartfelt appreciation to the regional communication officer and his deputy and some personalities who provided financial support for the program.
