News anchor of a Dambai based radio station Oti Radio 101.5FM, Ms. Christiana Ativi will on December 15, 2017 mark her birthday with a massive clean-up exercise at the Dambai market in the Volta Region of Ghana.

Ms. Ativi’s initiative to evacuate filth out of the market and the town of Dambai is in response to the latest reports that ranked Krachi East District with Dambai as the capital at the 216th position per Ghana’s district league table in 2017.

Speaking to Awake News, Christiana said the exercise is dubbed “Obapa & Friends Clean-up Exercise” and on the theme ‘HELP KEEP DAMBAI CLEAN’ is scheduled for Friday between the hours 6am and 8am at the Dambai Market.

According to Obaapa, July 22, 2015, Ghana was ranked the 7th most dirtiest country in the world according to a new report. In battling her points, a joint programme report by the World Health Organization and the United Nation’s Children’s Fund, Ghana slipped in its sanitation performance globally which led it to the ranking of 7th position.

She further revealed that Ghana had the 2nd position as the dirtiest country in West Africa per UNICEF report. In a joint monitoring platform on countries reported that Ghana was 14 out of 15 countries in West Africa, beating only Niger to the last position. This according to the sanitation campaigner is very bad for the nation.

“As I’m celebrating my birthday day on 15th December, 2017, I, therefore, whish to invite neighboring districts such as Krachi West, Krachi Nchumuru, both Nkwanta North and South with its citizenry to come and support for the clean-up exercise since cleanliness is next to Godliness” – Obaapa said

“We are going to sweep market square and a troop would move to ferry site and collects those polythene bags into zoom lion refuse containers” – She added

Ms. Ativi urges all Voltarians especially the above mentioned districts to participate this clean up exercise to keep our district clean and replicate this exercise in their home districts.
