Breaking News: NDC’s Dzifa Attivor dead

Former Transport Minister, Dzifa Attivor reportedly dies yesterday, Monday, November 15, 2021 at the University of Ghana Medical Centre in Accra.

The owner of the Volta1 TV and Global FM in Ho is reported to have been ill for some time now.

Late Dzifa was first appointed into public office by the late Professor John Evans Atta Mills as a Deputy Minister of Transport in his government.

After former president John Dramani Mahama took the reins in 2012, he promoted Madam Attivor by naming her the Minister of Transport in his government.

She held this position until 2015 when she resigned due to the infamous bus branding saga.

She was accused of financial impropriety in the award of a GH¢3.6 million contract to Smarttys Production in the re-branding of 116 Metro Mass Transit buses that year.

Despite resigning her position, she had expressed fears of being jailed if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) came to power.

Madam Attivor later joined the chairmanship race of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta Region.

She, however, lost the elections in 2018 to incumbent John Kudzo Gyapong.

She had a decade earlier contested the Ho West Parliamentary Primaries of the NDC but lost to Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzra.

Funeral arrangements will be announced soon, the family source said.

She died at 65.
