Breaking News: KNUST shut down indefinitely

Information reaching Awake News indicates that the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has been shut down indefinitely.

The decision is coming at the wake of violent protest embarked upon by [ads1]students of the university earlier today leaving millions of properties destroyed.

According to sources, the decision on the closure of the university was reached at a meeting between school authorities and the Ashanti Regional Security Council.

Thousands 0f students of the Kwame Nkrumah  University of Science and Technology (KNUST) are protesting against what they describe as brutalities in the university.

The students accuse the university authorities of preventing from engaging in any social activities and allowing the school security harass them anytime they were involved in certain activities.

The brawl started after the school authorities accused the students of engaging in illegal ‘morale’ activities which included drumming during a hall week celebration.

The campus of KNUST has not been as calm as it used to be in after some all-male halls (Katanga and Unity) were converted into mixed ones.

Yesterday, the students’ leadership served notice they will embark on the demonstration and also called on all students to boycott lectures following the arrest and detention of some group of students over the drumming issue.

Parents of the detained students have also reportedly besieged the KNUST Police

The demonstration which started peacefully ended with violence and destruction of properties promoting the university authorities to call for military and police.
