BOOT FOR BOOT COMMENT, We fully endorse it – Bole/Bamboi NDC

John Dramani Mahama

Every peace loving individual in Ghana should be worried of what transpired at Awayaso West Wougon during the by-elections. And as a constituency, (Bole/Bamboi-NDC) we can’t help but deeply share same.

From all indications in the exercise, the government of the day was bent on frustrating the National Democratic Congress in taking part in the by-elections at Ayawaso West Wagon.

We saw, as widely circulated, some masked macho men displaying their wrestling skills with innocent voters and observers of the National Democratic Congress NDC at the residence of the NDC Candidate: shooting indiscriminately and injuring several NDC sympathizers at the constituency. We treat this as a rehearsed exercise of the trained invincible forces of the President.

Strangely this gross display of lawlessness of these hooligans initially caught no eye of the President and the Christian council until former president Mahama spoke to reassure his base.

On that despicable day, He did pull his campaign off, took a visit to the injured at the 37 military hospitals.
He gave a word of caution to the ruling party to be circumspect of their deeds in governance. He also made it explicitly clear without missing words that the National Democratic Congress will match the NPP boot for boot in the 2020 elections. What crime did he commit?

As an aspiring leader of the National Democratic Congress and a former President,  it’s within his right to show some level of solidarity to his party men and women who were molested at Ayawaso West Wagon, by way of word and action; hence did no wrong according to law and morality by his statement..

The opposition leader then now President of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo made same comment (The NPP will match NDC boot for boot) on the 10th February 2011. This was captured in page 12 of Daily Graphic. Was Nana Addo asked to withdraw and apologize to Ghanaians by the chairman of the peace council?, Or he also believed in the philosophy of the current Ghana Ambassador to South Africa, H.E George Ayisi Boateng,
who once said, some Ghanaians are more Ghanaian than others.?
We wouldn’t tolerate this kind of animal farm mantra in this country any longer.

We want to state emphatically and equivocally that, the comments from Mahama are words that motivated the rank and file of our party across the constituency and we fully endorsed it, and are lacing our boots to match the NPP boot for boot come 2020.
We see those comments as a wake-up call, to resist any intimidation at the polls come 2020, and not inciting as the Christian council Chairman want us to believe.

Mahama can’t be intimidated to withdrawn his actual thoughts.
It’s only cowards who apologize for their thoughts. Mahama has been a peace-loving person since his parliament days and had several accolades from all and sundry irrespective of their political affiliation.

It’s still fresh in our minds how he Mahama was assaulted severally by known NPP members but was not met in equal measure during his days in Parliament. He has always asked his followers never to revenge for the sake of peace.

He has never been a warmonger and will never be one, unlike others who supervised the training of hooligans to cause mayhem in our courts and assaulting police officers at his own backyard. Mahama’s humble and peaceful demeanor should not be misunderstood for a weak leader.

There is a proverb in our local parlance that says ” No matter how small a bird is, it can’t be eaten with it feathers”

We are solidly behind the comments of Former President John Mahama and won’t encourage him to apologize.
