Black Spikers Ladies off to Cote d’Ivoire for World qualifiers

The National female Volleyball team, Black Spikers Ladies have arrived in Cote d’Ivoire to participate in the qualification tournament for the 2018 World Volleyball Championship.

The competition would begin tomorrow, August 18 and it is expected to [ads1]end on Sunday, August 20, 2017.

This tournament is the first phase of the qualifiers to the World Championship and a win at Cote d’Ivoire would give the Black Spikers Ladies an opportunity to the final stage of the qualification.

According to Mr Paul Atchoe, President of the Ghana Volleyball Association (GVA), the team will be joined by opponents from Nigeria and Niger, alongside the host; Cote d ‘Ivoire.

He said the first two teams of the four-nation tournament will progress to the final round of the qualifiers in Cameroon in September.

Ghana will be seeking to make qualification to the global volleyball championship next year.

The Cameroon Championship would also serve as a qualification tournament for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in Australia with points accumulation.

Team Ghana was represented by a 20 member contingent including 12 players, two coaches, a team manager, a referee, doctor, two officials from the Ghana Volleyball Association (GVA) and a team leader.
