Mr. Anthony Mensah, District Chief Executive(DCE) for Asutifi North in the Ahafo Region has tasked assembly workers in the country to be advocates of the COVID-19 preventive measures to avoid the fast spread of the disease in the country.
Mr. Mensah said this when he met heads of departments in his assembly at Kenyasi the district capital with the required social distancing to offer prayers to God to intervene and heal the country and the world at large since the number of infected persons keep increasing.
According to the DCE, the staff of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies(MMDEs) in the country have access to adequate information and knowledge on the measures to curb the disease which is gradually increasing per the number of persons tested positive and death so equally they have a mandate to educate others just like health experts.
He stated that the preventive measures such as social distancing, washing of hands with soap under running water, use of sanitizers, eating well, exercising, covering mouth when coughing and sneezing among others are now best understood by the assembly workers so it is also their core duty to educated others for the country to thrive over the Coronavirus/COVID-19 disease.
He disclosed the issue at hand needs collective approach by all so the workers of the various assemblies must get themselves involve for the country to take absolute control of the disease. Mr. Anthhony Mensah further said currently the government has procured Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) and distributed to all assemblies to give safeguard to residents so the workers of assemblies with fair knowledge must forward the message to the public.
The DCE added, veronica buckets, tissues and carbolic soaps are positioned at vantage at every assembly to curb the menace so the staff of assemblies must forward the information to the public. He pleaded with them to also observed all the preventive measures given by health professionals.
Reverend(Rev) Ebenezer Owusu Oppong of Methodist Church, Mangoasi – Nsawam Circuit, Koforidua Diocese who led the assembly in prayers thanked His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo for turning to God in a time like this by declaring a day for national fasting and prayers to combat the disease which is gradually halting activities in the world. He said per what was done nationwide the disease(COVID-19) will leave the country in no time because God has listened to the prayers of Ghanaians.
He urged Ghanaians to keep on praying to God for the county to overcome what it is experiencing. To him it is always good to deal with the issue in spiritual manner for it to manisfest in physical. Rev. Oppong added that all the necessary preventive measures designed by health experts must be adhered to avoid the wide spread of the disease. Spiritual and physical efforts must be combined to erase the disease completely so all must note and comply. The country must organize national prayers often to help.
