Presidential candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has pleaded with Ghanaians to support his digitalization vision by voting massively for him in the 2024 elections.

Speaking at the annual “Ofie Mega Walk” which was held in the Eastern Region on August 3, 2024, the Vice-President promised to make the acquisition for Ghanaian passports less stressful by abolishing the application forms.

He was of the opinion that a digitalized system would be the best way forward, adding that “If you have your card, you don’t have to apply and fill out a form for a passport. We have all your details, so you’ll just pay the fee, and then we print your passport for you.”

On how to fight corruption, Dr Bawumia said “From the customs office, we’ll introduce the flat rate of duty and digit-ability to prevent corruption at the port for the development of the country.”

The event was attended by a number of top party officials including National Chairman, Stephen Ayesu Ntim; General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong; and Director General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Sammi Awuku.

It also attracted lots of celebrities such as ex-Black Star captain Asamoah Gyan, media personality Andy Dosty; and popular musicians Guru, Edem, and Praye.
