Bawumia promises free tertiary education for persons with disabilities

Vice President of the Republic and flag bearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has promised free tertiary education for persons with disabilities (PWDs).

According to him, PWDs already enjoy support but the state can still offer them extra help.

Dr. Bawumia, currently on a nationwide campaign tour ahead of the December 7 presidential election, said that the free tertiary education to be enjoyed by persons living with disabilities would be funded by dedicated resources from the ’embattled’ Scholarship Secretariat and GETFund.

“I am very clear on the way forward. I believe that persons with disabilities; we are going to support them a bit more. We are giving scholarships to every sort of person but, I want to dedicate some of the money from our Scholarships Secretariat and the GETFUND to provide free tertiary education – both tuition and accommodation – to all persons with disabilities who will make it into the universities so that they can all benefit…,” Dr. Bawumia revealed at one of his campaign stops in the Western Region.
