George Krobea Asante, Deputy National Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has announced that a government led by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia would abolish the 10% Value-Added Tax (VAT) on betting.
He explained that this move is aimed at alleviating the economic burden on the youth and boosting the economy.
The Ghana Revenue Authority introduced the 10% tax on betting, games, and lottery wins in 2023, sparking protests from a significant portion of the public.
In an exclusive interview on Happy 98.9 FM, Mr. Asante emphasized that Dr. Bawumia has pledged to eliminate several taxes, including VAT on betting, electricity, and spare parts.
The NPP executive expressed optimism that these initiatives would significantly improve the living standards of Ghanaians, urging them to vote for Dr. Bawumia and the NPP.
